ARLINGTON — It took a “long time” to get through the corn maze at Foster’s Farm, said Sidney Scott, who found her way through the corn patch with her brother, Aidan, and her grandmother, Carol Peterson, of Arlington.
“The kids live in Mountlake Terrace,” Peterson said.
According to Joe Lamie, who was in charge of the pumpkin slingshot, Saturday was busier than Sunday, but Sunday was still a very good day.
Connie Foster said it was hard to tell if the tour added to their already very busy weekends through the month of October.
“I think we got some extra traffic from the farm tour,” she said, while dipping ice cream cones Sunday.
The prize for hitting the target with a miniature pumpkin in a slingshot was an ice cream cone.
Paul Hayward and Margaret McLellan stood at the exit of the corn maze, patiently waiting for their teenaged kids.
“We stop by here a lot,” Hayward said, adding his kids’ mother lives in Arlington and he comes to visit often.
“This is my weekend with the kids,” he said.
“We stop for ice cream when I come to town for sport events and school stuff.”
Originally from Idaho, but a resident of the Northwest for 27 years, McLellan said she always enjoys an opportunity to visit a farm. Their other stop for the day was across I-5 where they had a tractor ride. They have also been to Biringer’s in previous years and were surprised to hear this is Biringer’s last fall on the estuary.
Another family of four, the Wiganoskys came from Stanwood to get their pumpkins for Halloween.
“We come every year,” said Madeline Wiganosky, as Kylie took off running toward the pumpkins.
The farm tour included stops up and down the Stillaguamish River valley, and at Biringer Farm in Marysville.
