SNOHOMISH COUNTY — The health district is reporting that the first round of vaccines for the H1N1 flu have arrived.

Snohomish Health District spokeswoman Suzanne Pate said Friday, Oct. 9, that the district had received 300 doses of FluMist intranasal spray.

There was no word whether other health care providers had received the doses. On Tuesday, Oct. 6, county officials said as many 7,200 doses could be available to area clinics and hospitals by Friday.

Only one Snohomish Health District responder had been administered the vaccine, Pate said.

The remaining vaccine will be offered to other health district first responders and emergency personnel starting Oct. 12.

“(The vaccine) is not for everybody,” Pate said. “It’s for people aged 2 through 49. We actually have an aging work force.”

Pate said district officials are delighted that the vaccine has arrived.

“The main thing is to put that vaccine into as many health care responders and emergency personnel as possible,” she said. “We need to keep that infrastructure in place.”
