ARLINGTON The Arlington Cocoon House got a boost from the MOMS Club of Arlington and Stanwood May 8, as nearly two-dozen parents took part in the first of what they hope might become a series of Wheel-A-Thons.
Local companies ranging from the Frontier Bank and the Island Bakery to the Arlington Pharmacy, Safeway and Haggen stories sponsored the fundraiser, in which young children pedaled on their bicycles and tricycles, or were pushed in their strollers by their parents, to generate donations for Cocoon House which offers a foster home for homeless and runaway teenagers.
Arlington and Stanwood MOMS Club Vice President Amy Wriston explained that, as a non-profit organization, the MOMS Club had chosen to give back to a service that benefits less fortunate children.
Wriston elaborated that those who wish to support Cocoon House through the MOMS Club still have a chance to do so, since the MOMS Club is still calculating how much it collected, and will formally present its earnings to Cocoon House May 22, which gives potential donors until May 20 to chip in.
