Old Bags of Arlington looking for new members

The Old Bags Of Arlington Women’s Club is looking to recruit new members for 2011. The club will be turning 25 years old and is still very committed to helping children and families in need. OBOA pays special attention to those who need help, but do not meet the criteria of state or national programs.

ARLINGTON — The Old Bags Of Arlington Women’s Club is looking to recruit new members for 2011. The club will be turning 25 years old and is still very committed to helping children and families in need. OBOA pays special attention to those who need help, but do not meet the criteria of state or national programs.

Fundraisers throughout the years are bake sales, Reno raffle, Silvana Meats raffle, cookbooks, calendars and baked items. Besides helping children and families in need, the club also donates to Campfire Camp, Readiness to Learn, Kids Kloset, Stilly Little League, Stanwood and Arlington football teams, Brown Bag Brigade, Toys for Kids, Warm Beach Camp, Village Community Services, Arlington Food Bank, Thanksgiving and Christmas gift cards for 10 families each, as well as funds for fire victims and medical expenses.

Business meetings are held once a month on the first Friday at noon at The American Legion on Olympic Ave. Annual club dues are $15. Ladies who would like more information or to join may contact Etta Melhart at 360-435-3279 or Sherry Cox at 360-435-6996.
