ARLINGTON — Community members will have another chance to give their input on a possible construction project on 67th Avenue NE during a second public open house.

The event will take place from 4:30-7 p.m. on March 3 at Pioneer Hall (20722 67th Avenue NE).

City officials are in their early planning and design phase of a project that could include widening a strip of 67th Avenue NE for a center turn lane, installing sidewalks and street lighting and adding gateway features that would lead drivers into downtown Arlington.

Other benefits of the project would include enhanced mobility for bicyclists and pedestrians by extending Centennial Trail from downtown to 204th Street and improving the trail and railroad crossing at Lebanon Street, city officials said.

Project staff will be on hand at the open house to answer questions and take feedback.

Design concepts are scheduled to be presented to the City Council for a final decision in late March.

The city held its first public meeting on Sept. 17, 2009. During that meeting, business owners and residents told city officials their concerns about the project, which included potential impacts to local properties, the alignment and location of the Centennial Trail and access to and from 67th Avenue NE.

Additional design concepts have been added and will be available for review during the March 3 open house.
