ARLINGTON — City department heads are planning on greeting Rep. Rick Larsen with a warm reception, city officials said.

The U.S. representative is scheduled to get a tour of Arlington’s waste water treatment plant on Thursday, Nov. 12, during an upcoming tour of Snohomish County.

The waste water plant, which began construction in April 2009, has received approximately $5.5 million in federal stimulus funds.

“This is pretty exciting for us to get this amount of money to construct this project,” city of Arlington spokeswoman Kristin Banfield said. “Rep. Larsen wanted to see the project before and after.”

Larsen will also get to see sidewalk improvements the city is making to Gifford Avenue between Presidents Elementary School and Haller Middle School.

Approximately $95,000 in stimulus funds were awarded to the city for the project.

Larsen will also be attending Veterans Day activities in Everett on Nov. 11, and is scheduled to speak with the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce on Nov. 12.

He will also be attending a ribbon cutting ceremony in Stanwood for the 68th Avenue NW improvement project, which also received federal funds.
