ARLINGTON – A 28-year-old Arlington man who reportedly left of the scene of a fatal accident in Lake Stevens has been arrested on two unrelated warrants and booked into the Snohomish County Jail in Everett. The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the collision at 84th Street and 105th Avenue NE that occurred just before 2 p.m. Dec. 31.
A Chevy van rear-ended a Toyota Yaris, forcing the Toyota into oncoming traffic where it was hit head-on by an Acura SUV driven by the Arlington man, a sheriff’s news release says. The driver of the Toyota, a 48 year-old woman, and the passenger, a 72-year-old Lake Stevens woman, were transported by aid car to a hospital, where the older woman died. After leaving the scene, the Arlington man was later located at a nearby hospital seeking treatment for his injuries. The driver suspected of causing the collision, a 43-year-old man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The road was closed for several hours during the investigation.
CIU is still working to determine the cause of the collision.
Identification of the deceased, as well as cause and manner, are pending from the county medical examiner.
