Schools started two hours late Monday after late winter snows caused many cars to hit the ditch early Sunday and Monday mornings.

ARLINGTON — Schools started two hours late Monday after late winter snows caused many cars to hit the ditch early Sunday and Monday mornings.

Downtown Arlington got more snow than Oso this time, with nearly six inches on the ground Sunday morning, according to TV news, and another round on Monday.

The city of Arlington had about 15 calls Sunday through Monday morning on weather related crashes or requests for assistance to get out of the ditch, according to the city’s spokesperson, Kristin Banfield.

“I saw a few cars stuck or in the ditches between my house at Getchell and work,” Banfield said.

“Right now, we’re bare and wet and getting ready for tonight’s freeze,” she said Monday mid afternoon.

Students waited at the bottom of hills for their school buses on snow routes at 9 a.m. Monday and projections were calling for more snow until Tuesday.
