SNOHOMISH COUNTY — Officials announced Friday, Dec. 11, that crews are ready to combat any snowfall that could accumulate on county roads in the near future.

County crews have stockpiled about 10,000 tons of sand mixed with salt at three locations in the county should snow begin to accumulate in the upcoming days, according to a statement issued by Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon.

Current forecasts call for some small snow flurries in parts of Snohomish County.

Marysville and Arlington residents could see snow during the night of Saturday, Dec. 12. Snow could continue into Sunday, Dec. 13, according to the National Weather Service.

Little or no accumulation is expected.

“We successfully attacked the accumulating snow last year, keeping roads cleared and safe for drivers,” Reardon said in a statement. “We’re ready to do the same this year.”

The county also has 20 sander/plow trucks at its disposal, and drivers will be on standby throughout the weekend.

“There is a concerted effort here at Snohomish County to have the main roads completely clear of snow and ice,” said Public Works Director Steve Thomsen in the statement. “From there, we branch out to secondary roads and neighborhoods.”
