SNOHOMISH COUNTY — A county workshop designed to help residents learn about how natural emergencies may affect them is coming to Arlington.

On Thursday, Feb. 25, community members can attend a public meeting at the Arlington City Council Chambers to learn more about Snohomish County’s Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan.

The meeting will take place from 6-9 p.m.

The plan, first adopted by the county and 42 participating partners in 2005, assesses risk within the county for nine natural disasters including floods, earthquakes and landslides.

During the meeting, residents will be able to see how such issues could affect public and private property, according to a release from the Snohomish County Executive’s office.

The hazard plan is required by the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 to promote and encourage pre-disaster planning and for federal disaster funding purposes.

Other county meetings will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 23 at the Stanwood Fire Station (8117 267th Street NW, Stanwood) and Wednesday, Feb. 24 at the Sultan Middle School Commons (301 High Ave., Sultan).
