ARLINGTON — Approximately 75 students and staff gathered for the annual Arlington School District Respect Team Kick-Off on Oct. 5. This year’s theme is “Respect is the same in every language.”

Al Moore opened the event, inciting enthusiasm from the students with a variety of cheers. Dr. Kristine McDuffy, district superintendent, encouraged the students in their efforts to raise respect within their schools. Kent Prairie students led all team members in a respect song. There were poems, games, dancing and singing. JJ Frank, former University of Washington football player and gang intervention specialist, was the guest speaker.

Schools had time to plan out activities and events they will conduct and participate in throughout the year. The day was a success and participants returned to their schools with a renewed enthusiasm to spread the message of respect worldwide.
