ARLINGTON — Trafton students rehearsing for their annual spring program at Arlington High School had to leave earlier than expected on Thursday, May 27.

A downed power line caused an outage at the school, requiring students to be bussed to the high school Thursday morning instead of later in the day, said Misti Gilman, spokeswoman for the Arlington School District.

Gilman said in an e-mail note to parents that Snohomish PUD informed the district that the repair would take most of the day, so officials decided to send Trafton students up to the high school early.

Students will take part in some “creative educational opportunities” in the Byrnes Performing Arts Center lobby while they are at Arlington High School, Gilman said.

“There are spaces in the lobby they will be able to use as teaching spaces (and) they may be able to run on the track at some point during the day,” Gilman said. “We will make it work. It’s good that they had already planned to be at the BPAC, otherwise we would be looking at other options.”

Dismissal times or locations for the students did not change.

Trafton students were scheduled to perform their spring concert at the performing arts center at 6:30 p.m.
