EVERETT — United Way of Snohomish County is taking its mission on the road, partnering with Sno-Isle Libraries to listen to people in communities throughout the county and share news of United Way’s new 10-year goals to advance the common good.
The Listen and Discovery tour is a series of town-hall style meetings designed to give people the opportunity to talk about needs in their own communities. United Way’s CEO & President Dennis Smith and 2011 campaign chair Sue Ambler will also speak briefly about ways United Way is touching lives throughout the county and talk specifically about 10-year goals to help kids start school ready to learn and graduate on time.
“In my profession, I travel around the county a great deal, listening and talking to people,” said Ambler, president and CEO of Workforce Development Council Snohomish County. “Now, I’m pleased to do that as a volunteer with United Way, listening and discovering ways we can all step up to make our communities stronger and healthier for all people.”
“United Way serves hundreds of thousands of people in Snohomish County, some in ways many may not be aware of. We hope people will join us to talk about conditions in their community, how United Way is addressing those, and results and goals going forward,” Smith said.
The Listen and Discover tour will include about 8-10 community meetings in all areas of the county. They are open to the public. So far, these five dates have been scheduled:
- Aug. 30, Stanwood Library, 2-3 p.m.
- Sept. 15, Snohomish Library, 2-3 p.m.
- Sept. 20, Marysville Library, 2-3 p.m.
- Sept. 22, Lake Stevens Library, 2-3 p.m.
- Oct. 20, Arlington Rotary meeting.
