ARLINGTON — All eight of the suspects identified in the Feb. 5 robbery at the intersection of Interstate 5 and Highway 530 in Arlington have since been arrested.
Arlington Police Department units were dispatched at 8:50 a.m. on Feb. 5, to a report of a robbery that had just taken place in the parking lot of the Denny’s Restaurant at Island Crossing near I-5.
Arlington Police officers learned from the adult female victim and several witnesses that multiple suspects were involved, robbing the victim at gunpoint as they also attempted to steal her car. The victim was struck with her own vehicle by one of the suspects as he attempted exit to the parking lot, before crashing the victim’s car into a fire hydrant. All the suspects were able to flee the scene in three separate vehicles prior to police arriving.
The victim, a a 35-year-old Camano Island resident, was robbed of cash and jewelry, in addition to her vehicle. She initially declined to be transported to the hospital, but later indicated she had injuries, was in pain and would be going to the hospital. She sustained only minor injuries.
The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office provided crucial assistance in searching the area and helped detain two suspects. Working all day and into the early hours of the next morning, Arlington Police detectives were able to obtain evidence that led to the positive identification of all the suspects involved in the robbery, including three adult females and five adult males. Investigators now believe that these same suspects have been on a multi-day crime spree covering multiple jurisdictions up and down the I-5 corridor.
As of Feb. 6, four suspects had been arrested in relation to this investigation, although additional arrests and charges were pending. As of Feb. 7, four more arrests were made in the case, with the last suspect arrested shortly before 5 p.m. that day. The suspects have been tied to several vehicle thefts, as well as another robbery in Burlington.
Arlington police are still investigating and expect to execute multiple search warrants over the next few days, due to the complexity of the case from the number of suspects involved.
