UPDATE | Child injured after fall from truck in stable condition

ARLINGTON — The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that the 10-year-old boy who fell from a truck on Sunday, Aug. 12, is in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center.

ARLINGTON — The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the 10-year-old boy who fell from a truck on Sunday, Aug. 12, is in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center.

The 62-year-old Arlington man suspected of driving the truck was arrested and released at the scene for driving under the influence, while the truck was taken into evidence as part of the investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Collision Investigations Unit. Detectives are currently investigating the incident as a suspected vehicular assault.

At about‭ ‬7 p.m. on Aug. 12,‭ ‬Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the‭ ‬30600‭ ‬block of‭ ‬171st Avenue‭ ‬NE‭ in ‬Arlington to a report of a‭ ‬10-year-old boy who had fallen from the bed of a moving pickup truck.

The child was airlifted to Harborview with serious head injuries that were considered to be life-threatening.

“While there is a possible connection to driver impairment in this particular case,‭ ‬we want to remind everyone that, under almost all circumstances, it is unlawful for passengers to ride outside of a vehicle,” said Lt. Rob Palmer of the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office. “Passengers,‭ ‬especially children,‭ ‬should always be in seats, with proper seatbelts in use.”
