SEATTLE — Negotiations were scheduled to continue Tuesday, April 27, after Waste Management and Teamsters Local 174 were unable to reach a contract agreement on Monday, April 26.

Both parties, which began negotiating at 10 a.m. Monday, concluded a 15-hour session Tuesday just after 1 a.m., said Jackie Lang, spokesperson for the garbage and recycling collection company.

Despite no agreement being reached, collection services in Arlington and Marysville were provided to Waste Management customers Tuesday.

Drivers for Waste Management have been working without a contract since April 1. A one-day strike by workers on April 21 prompted both sides to continue negotiations.

The cities of Arlington and Marysville both contract with Waste Management. All residents who live within the cities of Arlington and Marysville are required to subscribe to recycling services provided by the company.

Garbage pickup is also provided by the company to those who live in all of Arlington. The city of Marysville collects garbage from all residents who live in the city limits with the exceptions of the Sunnyside and central annexation areas where the garbage is collected by Waste Management.
