Arthur Andrew Hansen passed on April 5, 2007, peacefully at home, surrounded with loved ones.
He was born April 28, 1929.
Arthur attended schools in the Everett Marysville area. At age 13, he went to work for American Tug. At age 15, he joined the Army Transport Service, also the Merchant Marines. At age 17, he joined the United States Army and was with the occupation forces in Germany. In 1948, he volunteered for Jump School and became a United States Paratrooper. He served with the 82nd All American Airborne Division, the 101st Screaming Eagles Airborne Division, the 187th Rakkasans Airborne Regimental Combat Team. He was stationed at Ft. Benning, Ga., Ft. Bragg, N.C., Ft. Campbell, Ken., Japan, Korea and Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1965 with disabilities.
He met Doris Germain Jacobson in 1949 while home on leave. They were married in 1950 and had four children.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ethel Hansen of Everett, Wash.; son, Arthur Skip Hansen of Stanwood; sister, Doris Leese of California; and sister, Alpha Becker of Marysville, Wash.
He is survived by his wife, Doris of Warm Beach, Wash. area; sons, Mark of Warm Beach area, Craig (Liz) of Mt. Vernon, Wash.; daughter, Johnny Jean of Warm Beach area; two brothers, Cecil of Lake Goodwin, Wash., Marvin (LaVella) of Portland Ore.; a very special Aunt Edna Short of Granite Falls, Wash.; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
An outdoor service was held on April 21, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the family home.
