Elmer Afseth, 93, of Marysville, Wash., passed away at home into the presence of the Lord on Dec. 27, 2006. He was surrounded in the love of his daughters and grandchildren that he loved so dearly.
He was born Oct. 6, 1913 in Foston, Minn.
Elmer was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Hazel, in October of 2004. Their 67-year marriage was a beautiful inspiration to their children and all that knew them. They had a connection that was obviously made in Heaven. They lived most of their married life in Darrington where he worked as a logger. Elmer had a great love of the mountains, where he snow shoed, hiked and took his family on camping trips. After setting up camp, Elmer would go fishing for dinner, then sit around the campfire and play his harmonica. All of his loved ones that are left behind have been blessed by the man that was Elmer Afseth.
Dad was kind and a gentle man and was honest to the core. We have all recognized what a special father and grandfather we had and know that we have had wonderful childhoods because of him. We never left their home without hello and goodbye hugs and being told how much we were loved and remembered in their prayers. We all came to Dad with special prayer requests, as we knew his prayers were answered. We will all carry your and Moms love in our hearts and carry your legacy on in our children.
Dad is survived by his three daughters, Sherrill (Bob) Noble, Joan (Pat) Sygitowicz and Christy (Del) Van Natta; eight grandchildren, Valerie and Nancy, Tami, Kim, Lynn and John, also Carly and Christopher; 14 great-grandchildren. Enjoy heaven Dad, we all envy the awesome trip you have taken.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007 at Victory Foursquare Gospel Church, Marysville. A reception followed.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Home Care, Everett.
