John Sherman, 75, passed away on Dec. 23, 2006, at his home in Everett, Wash.
John was born in Harmony, Wash., to Rollie and Martha Sherman on March 5, 1931.
He grew up on a farm in Mossyrock, Wash., and enjoyed playing football. John proudly served 20 years in the Air Force, where he specialized as a weather forecaster. After retiring from the Air Force he was employed at Scott Paper Co. and retired after 26 years. John was always there for his family and enjoyed his friends. John was honest, jovial and compassionate for others. His passions were gardening, bowling, fishing and hiking.
While serving in the Air Force in Japan, John met his loving wife, Ikuko, of 53 years. He is also survived by his sons, Leonard (Laura) Sherman of Arlington, Jesse Sherman of Arlington and Glenn Sherman of Everett; daughter Linda (Brad) Lewis of Snohomish; grandchildren, Jeremy (Julie), Stephanie (Jared), Gina, Angela, Lacey, Jonathan, Erin Jordan, Jeffrey; one great-grandchild, Braden. We hold you close within our hearts, Dad.
John will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He will be lovingly embraced by our Lord in Heaven.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, at Evergreen Funeral Home.
