Leslie Howard Jones, 53, of Arlington, Wash., was embraced into the arms of our Lord on Aug. 31, 2007, after a sudden illness.
Les was born in North Carolina to Odell and Evelyn Jones on Oct. 16, 1953. He graduated from Darrington High School in 1972 and spent his adult life in Arlington.
Les worked for various logging companies including Summit Timber and Miller Shingle, but eventually moved into other occupations including working for Boeing, the Tillman Dairy Farm and eventually going into business for himself as a truck driver, driving Big Purple. His final job was working at the Angel of the Winds Casino. Les was also a volunteer firefighter at the Arlington Heights Fire Department for 27 years.
His enjoyments in life included fishing, crabbing, hound hunting and spending time with his family in the mountains.
Les was preceded in death by his grandparents, Allen and Geneva Jones; as well as Felix and Maye Kirkland.
Les is survived by his wife of 32 years, Nancy; his children, Michelle Jones (Charles Kocher), Michael (Rebecca) Jones and Tanya (Zach) Taylor; and his grandchildren, Nikkole and Karlyn. He also leaves two brothers, Rick (Johanna) Jones and Randy (Donna) Jones; two sisters, Juanita (Jay) Cyr, and Doris (Jerry) Sherrill; as well as many other relatives and friends.
A service was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, at the Darrington Assembly of God Church; a reception dinner followed at the Darrington Community Center.
