Susan Caryl Peterson (Roberson) was born on April 25, 1951 in Centralia, WA, to Wilma Irene Roberson (Caryl) and Randall Merlin Roberson.

Her mother taught elementary school while her father was a proud teamster, driving a cement truck for many years. She left us on November 21, 2018, while on a cruise in the warm Caribbean Sea on her way to the Panama Canal.

She leaves us too soon and we will never forget her.

Susan graduated from Centralia High School in 1969, by that time she was already dating the love of her life. On New Year’s Eve 1967, Susan met Jerry Peterson (while on a double date with other people), a guy from the other side of the tracks – Chehalis, WA. They were married in December 1969 and moved to Marysville, WA in 1972 and built a life together that was filled with love, hard work, and adventure. Their first son, Joseph, was born in 1970 and it took them until 1979 to build up the courage to have a second son, Randall.

Susan loved books, so a 30-year career at the Marysville Library was ideal. Susan’s library career led to many great friendships and one of life’s greatest joys, a retirement with a pension. There was, however, one joy greater than a pension. Susan was ecstatic when her daughter-in-law, Anna, gave her the greatest present of all, her grandson Zander. She was an amazing grandma and they spent many hours reading, watching Disney movies, and sharing treats. After her grandson and books, Susan’s greatest

passion was travel. She and Jerry traveled to Egypt, Switzerland, Scotland, England, Mexico, and they still found time for many visits to Disneyland and

Disney World. But most of all they loved to cruise. They cruised across the Atlantic to Europe, around the Mediterranean, across the Pacific to Hawaii, up the coast to Alaska, and all over the warm Caribbean.

A celebration of Susan’s life will take place on January 19th, 2019 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Marysville Library (6120 Grove St, Marysville, WA 98270). Please join us as we eat popcorn, dessert, and other snacks along with her favorite drink, Coca-Cola. It will be a chance to tell stories about our amazing wife, mother, and friend.

A second memorial in Centralia is being planned for the first weekend of March.

Susan would have enjoyed knowing donations in her honor would go to organizations like the ACLU or to support any candidate that will stand up to “That Man”.
