Great things are happening in the Marysville School District.

If you’ve read the paper, liked us on Facebook or followed us on Twitter or Instagram you are probably aware of the strides being made.

If you’ve taken advantage of volunteering for committee work (boundaries, equity, facilities), attended a Saturday morning coffee and conversation session or volunteered in our schools, you’re seeing it. If you’ve had a problem to solve, and you’ve reached out to the schools and district for support, you’ve been listened to, followed up with, and stayed with until resolution. The school district cares. Our customer service is improving and is only going to get better. As the school year winds to a close, I would like to thank all district employees who work diligently for all students every day. It matters not whether you teach in the classroom, clean schools, drive buses, mow lawns, provide in-classroom support, monitor campuses, administer buildings or provide guidance and support from the Service Center; it takes everyone working together to improve a student’s life. It’s unbelievable how many staff love our students and are willing to do whatever it takes to help.

When I sit in board meetings where students and staff are honored, I am excited by the ever-increasing acceptance of all peoples and cultures. I am proud of our students and staff and their accomplishments. Superintendent Jason Thompson’s goal sets to be in schools 20 percent (eight hours) of the work week, committed to building positive relationships with students, staff, parents and community – prioritizing customer service for all.

In closing, on behalf of the school board, I want to share how incredibly proud we are of our graduates. Congratulations to the Class of 2019.
