ARLINGTON — The Lady Eagles advanced a participant in almost every event en route to a dominating win to grab the Wesco North title at home May 14.

The winners of the day came from young Arlington participants with bright futures. Sophomore Teresa Wadey placed first in the 800, legging out Stanwood junior Adrianna Royal to win with a time of 2:19.03.

Also, freshman Marissa Swegle took home the Wesco title in the shot put, beating out teammate Brittany Covey with a throw of 37-10.50.

The top 10 from each individual event qualified for the Northwest District tournament at Snohomish May 19 and 21.

Winning individual titles for the boys were a pair of sophomores in Blake McPherson and Max Bryson.

McPherson’s javelin toss of 187-08 easily outdid the competition, while Bryson’s jump of 6-02 was the top mark in the high jump.

The Arlington girls finished with 179.33 points, which was more than 40 ahead of No. 2 Oak Harbor.

Earning runner-up honors in individual events were junior Jasmine Redis in the 100 (12.50), Kylene Swegle in the 100-meter hurdles (15.91), Alexis Sarver in the discus (115-05), Stephanie Van Slageren in the javelin (121-06) and Virginia Wilson in the high jump (5-00).

All together, the Lady Eagles advanced 26 athletes in individual events.

The Arlington boys qualified 19 for the Northwest District tournament. As a team the Eagles scored 86 points.

Multiple event qualifiers were Devante Gaillard (100, 200), McPherson (javelin, 110 hurdles), Dan Boyden (shot put, discus) and Bryson (javelin, high jump).

Multiple qualifiers for the girls were Redix (100, 200), Wadey (800, 1,600, 3,200), Sarver (discus, 100 hurdles, high jump), Marissa Elgarico (shot put, discus), Kylene Swegle (110 hurdles, high jump, long jump) and Melissa Webb (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, long jump, triple jump).
