ARLINGTON — Rain or shine, the Arlington High School Softball Booster Club will be putting on it’s third annual softball clinic, on March 29, which will teach kids ages 5 to 14 years old softball fundamentals.

“We are trying to build the softball program in Arlington,” booster club coordinator Stephanie MacLean said, who is the parent of Arlington’s pitcher Maddy Maclean. “We have a lot of stellar players this year.”

The clinic will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., either indoor or outdoor depending on the weather.

The four-hour clinic will focus on hitting, catching and other softball related skills.

“People just love it,” Maclean said. “We’ve had the clinic inside and still get positive feedback.

Along with honing the skills of potential Arlington softball players, the softball clinic’s aim is to increase the popularity of the sport, especially after Arlington won the 4A State Tournament last year.

“Winning the championship will enthuse people to come out,” Arlington head coach Dan Eng said.

Arlington girls varsity and junior varsity softball teams, along with Arlington’s head coach, will be hosting the clinic.

“They love to do it,” Eng said about Arlington’s softball players. “They know in the future the little leaguers will be players for Arlington.”

No preregistration is required for the clinic. Registration costs $45 upon entry. Be sure to dress accordingly if the clinic is held indoors or outdoors.
