MARYSVILLE — At number one singles, Arlington senior Ivana Krommelova had a dominating performance, but the Eagles tennis team fell short of the win, losing 4-3 to Marysville-Pilchuck.

Krommelova defeated Marysville singles player Ashley Bartlett 6-0, 6-0 to give Arlington their only singles win.

She “is a phenomenal player,” said M-P head coach Nathan McClellan, whose team hosted the match. Krommelova continued her dominance over Arlington’s first singles opponents, having yet to give up a set to a challenger.

The team loss bumped Arlington to 1-3 in conference, their second loss by the narrow margin. Arlington opened their season with a 4-3 loss to Oak Harbor March 14, with their win a 5-1 victory over Everett March 20.

The Eagles’ doubles duo of Bridgette Burkholder and Morgan Galusha had their hands full against Marysville’s number one doubles team of April Bobadilla and Kelsey Brubaker, but Arlington emerged from a tiebreaker set with the win 7-5, 7-6 (8-6).

Arlington’s third win came courtesy of the second doubles contest where the Eagles’ Lauren Kelley and Kelly Hamilton won 6-3, 6-4 over Marysville’s Kaitlyn Enberg and Amy Famelos.

In singles competition, Arlington didn’t fare so well. At second singles, M-P’s Jodie Anderson defeated Colleen McElroy in two sets, winning 6-1, 6-2. Arlington’s third singles Kaitlyn Scott fell 6-3, 6-3 to Lianne Falenski, while Emery Zednick was defeated by M-P’s Taylor Olson 6-1, 6-1 in the fourth singles contest.

At third doubles, the Arlington team of Alison Taylor and Laurel Graves fell to Marysville’s Juliana Albano and Kayla Mullen 6-1, 6-2.
