MARYSVILLE – Arlington High School’s track and field spent two days competing in the District I/II Bi-District meet at Marysville-Pilchuck High School on May 16 and May 18.

Maintaining their season-long lead in the division and following two long Kingco and Wesco meets, the Eagles’ boys managed to clinch the 4A Bi-District title on May 18. Jared Alskog and Blake McPherson managed to take first and second place in the boys’ 300 meter hurdles, with times of 38.45 and 39.02 respectively. McPherson also managed to place first in the javelin with a throw of 204 feet, 10 inches and first in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.05. McPherson and Alskog, with Andrew Bosket and John Decker placed sixth in the 4×400 meter relay. Decker was 15th and 16th in the 400 and 200 meter dashes during prelims, and Bosket took sixth in the 800 meters with a final time of 1:58.31.

Arlington’s Dan Boyden was quite the success on the field placing first in the discus with a final throw of 163 feet, 10 inches and third place in shot put with a final throw of 53-09.25.

The girls’ team also found success during the final week before the state championships.

Freshman Jessica Ludwig placed second in the triple jump with a final distance of 35 feet and seven inches and third in the long jump with a final distance of 16 feet and 4.25 inches. Ludwig also managed to place seventh in the 100 meter hurdles with a final time of 16.46. Sheltyn Rose placed eighth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 49.06.

Sophomore Lyndsay Leatherman was also a success on the field with a third-place win in the javelin, a final distance of 124 feet, five inches and third in shot put with a distance of 39-02.00. Senior Alexis Sarver placed second in the discus with a final throw of 131 feet, four inches.

Relays were another area of success for the girls’ team. McKenzie Corpron, Diamond Martin, Sarah Nuttall and Taylor Andersen placed sixth in the final 4×100 meter relay with a final time of 52.06.

Martin, Ludwig, Taylor Andersen and Teresa Wadey placed third in the 4×200 meter relay finals with a final time of 1:45. Martin, a junior, also placed seventh in the 100 meter dash with a final time of 12.88. Molly Rard placed eighth in the pole vault with a final result of nine feet.

Following their success at the Bi-District meets, Arlington track and field heads now to the 4A State Championship meets at Mt. Tahoma High School from May 24-26.
