ARLINGTON — Anthony Allen has gotten used to playing in Washington Junior Golf Association state tournaments.

His experience from seven state tournaments showed, July 30 as he finished runner-up, shooting an even-par 216 over three days at Everett Golf and Country Club, and Legion Memorial Golf Course.

“I struck the ball pretty well, but even when I didn’t, I was able to go up-and-down to stay in it,” Allen said.

Allen, who made the WIAA state tournament for Arlington High School as a freshman in 2010, has credited his solid play to working on his short game during the past year.

Finishing in first was Frank Olav Garber, who won by one stroke. Allen and Garber have been competing with one another in WJGA play for a number of years.
