ARLINGTON — The Stilly Valley juniors all-star team has moved on to the state tournament.
Stilly Valley defeated Lake Stevens 19-14 in the championship game of the District 1 Little League Junior Softball All Star Tournament at Lake Stevens Community Park July 1.
“We have just been getting amazing hitting from the girls,” said team representative Melissa McGhee.
Stilly Valley rode four home runs to dominate the competition at Lake Stevens to the tune of scoring more than 16 runs per game.
One of those home runs, smashed by Mccall McGhee, was also the first ball to be hit over the fence at Lake Stevens park. She was given an award for accomplishing that feat after the tournament.
Stilly Valley began the tournament with a 16-4 win over Everett, which advanced them to the to the semifinals and a game against Lake Stevens.
Stilly won its first match up with Lake Stevens 14-1. The girls from Arlington will travel down to Vancouver July 17 for a game at 6:30 p.m.
Team members include Sierra Nicholson, Machelle Steele, Savannah Duce, Allison Rosenbach, Savannah Diemer, Mccall McGhee, Karly Albertson, Elysia Whitis, Jennaka Larson, Kailee Morris, Jessica Jones and Bailey Hoag. Matt Rosenbach is manager and Don McGhee is the coach.
