Eagles top Inglemoor, will face Kamiak on Nov. 1

The Arlington Eagles hosted the Inglemoor Vikings from the KingCo conference Oct. 25 to finish off their regular season. The Eagle defense came out on Senior Night ready from the first whistle.

ARLINGTON — The Arlington Eagles hosted the Inglemoor Vikings from the KingCo conference Oct. 25 to finish off their regular season. The Eagle defense came out on Senior Night ready from the first whistle. Micah Miller intercepted an Inglemoor pass on the third play from scrimmage. A sustained drive by the Eagle offense brought the ball to the Vikings 2-yard line. Sophomore quarterback Andrew Kalahar capped the drive with a QB sneak for a TD, Parra’s PAT made it 7-0 for Arlington.

The teams traded interceptions. Micah Miller got his second pick of the night for the Eagles. Neither team was able to keep any drive going and the teams traded punts a couple times each. Inglemoor put together a drive and settled for a field goal so it was 7-3 with Arlington still in the lead. Arlington answered with a touchdown by Jared Alskog from the 3-yard line. He practically walked in through the huge hole created by fullback Cameron Scrimgeour, right guard Nathaniel Leslie and right tackle Michael Peden. Again, Parra’s PAT was good and the Eagles led 14-3. The swarming defense, led by the defensive line of Beni Madrigal-Ries, Sean Patnode and DeeShawn Benjamin kept Inglemoor from doing much of anything. Arlington then went on an eight-play drive that resulted in an Anthony Parra field goal of 34 yards, and it was a 17-3 Eagle lead.

Both teams had trouble gaining any offensive traction, swapping interceptions and punts for the next hour until Inglemoor went on a long drive. The Vikings bootlegged and their QB connected with his receiver in the endzone for a TD. It was now a 17-10 Eagle lead. Before Inglemoor could say momentum, the Eagles answered back. Down blocks by Casper Blowers, Gareth Henderson and Carl Kulper and a stellar pull kick from Chow and pull lead from Peden opened a huge hole. Jared Alskog sprinted through that big-time hole and scampered 50 yards for the game sealing score. Parra’s kick and it was 24-10.

Inglemoor scored a late TD and recovered the onside kick and it seemed to be getting close again. Not so fast, Micah Miller made his third interception of the night and that was the ballgame. By the way, Monroe beat Mt. Vernon, so the Eagles are in a loser out playoff game this week. They will face Kamiak on Nov. 1, beginning at 7 p.m., at Arlington High School. The winner of that game will move on to the playoffs.
