SELAH – The Lakewood girls softball team opened the state tournament with a 5-1 loss to host Selah Friday.
They lost their last game to Ridgefield 11-1 in five innings to be eliminated from the tourney. But sandwiched in-between that was a huge win for the Cougar girls. They beat White River 8-5 to claim their first win at state for a Lakewood girls softball team in the history of the school. It was quite an accomplishment for a team that placed sixth in the Northwest Conference with an 8-5 record, 18-8 overall. They were 4-3 in postseason play.
