School just got out and kids already are looking for things to do.

Fortunately, Marysville and Arlington city departments, along with their respective school districts, have lots of offerings.

Private companies also put on camps for everything from music to sports.

There’s a girls basketball camp going on this week in Arlington, and a girls volleyball camp at Lakewood.

A popular class in Marysville is the city’s Tiny Tots at Grove Elementary. Parents accompany kids up to age 4. The class is on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10-11 a.m.

Andrea Kingsford of the city parks department runs the program. After their 45-minute large motor play and craft exploration session, she read them a story called, “Go Shapes Go.” The interactive book had the kids and some parents jumping, flying, twirling, slithering and marching.

“Infants last year are cruising around in cars this year,” Kingsford said, adding she really gets to know the families that come year after year.

This week’s theme is shapes, but other themes this summer include: 4th of July fun, What’s the weather, I love numbers, A day at the zoo and Making music.

Meanwhile, at Marysville-Pilchuck High School, head girls basketball coach Taylor Stevens is running a camp for girls all over the area. There are kindergarteners through fourth-graders in one session and fifth- to 12th-graders in the other. It only runs this week.

Stevens said he’s trying to build back up the M-P program, adding to the girls, “The lower you dribble the ball the easier it is to control.”
